Signs you need help now
Call right away if you notice any of these — the sooner we start, the less there is to repair.
- A toilet, tub or floor drain backing up
- Sewage smell in the basement or crawl space
- Multiple drains gurgling or draining slowly at once
- Water coming up from a floor drain during laundry
- Wet, discolored carpet near a bathroom
- A septic system that has stopped accepting water
Why it can’t wait: Every hour sewage sits, contamination spreads deeper into porous materials and farther through the home. Prompt containment keeps the affected area small and the rebuild smaller.

How we handle it, step by step
Every job is documented with photos and readings — useful for you and for your insurance claim.
Contain the area
We set up containment and negative air to keep contaminants from spreading to clean rooms.
Remove sewage and solids
Specialized extraction and bagging of affected porous materials — carpet, pad, drywall, insulation — which cannot be safely sanitized.
Clean and disinfect
Hard surfaces and framing are cleaned, then treated with hospital-grade EPA-registered disinfectants.
Dry and deodorize
Structural drying followed by odor treatment so nothing lingers.
Rebuild
New drywall, flooring and trim installed by our reconstruction team once the space is clean and dry.

Real reviews from homeowners and property managers we’ve helped.
- Sewage cleanup & reconstruction
“Quality Restoration did an amazing job when we had a sewer backup in our home. They responded quickly, explained every step, and made a very stressful situation much easier to handle. Their team was professional, respectful, and worked hard to clean, sanitize, and restore everything back to normal. What really impressed me was how well they handled all the communication with the insurance company — they know exactly what they’re doing and saved us a lot of time and stress. After the cleanup, they also took care of the reconstruction, and everything looks perfect now.”

Sewage Cleanup FAQ
Is it safe to clean up a small sewage spill myself?
We don’t recommend it. Even small backups contain pathogens, and household cleaners don’t sanitize porous materials. Keep children and pets away, avoid running water, and call us.
Does insurance cover sewer backups?
Many policies require a specific sewer/drain backup endorsement. If you have it, we document everything the adjuster will need. If you’re unsure, we’ll help you find out quickly.
What has to be thrown away?
Porous items that touched sewage — carpet, pad, upholstered furniture, drywall, insulation, cardboard. Hard, non-porous items can usually be cleaned and disinfected.
